Being the official blogger for Askme.com (Sponsors of LFW) along with Anam Chasmawala of What When Wear, Fashion week this season has been a crazy one for me. My job involved capturing street style, to review shows and also interact with the guests at the venue. I was basically all over the place, running from one show to another, and trying to film interviews between each show. (And I’m not complaining!)
I got the opportunity to meet the who’s who of the fashion industry and also interview a couple of them, I sat front row for shows like Manish Malhotra, Miss Bennett, Reboot and a couple more which was super fun!
Before I begin to speak about my experiences any further, I would like to give a shout out to my friend Samir Rana who guided me and helped me get this opportunity! He is truly amazing and I can’t thank him enough! He held one of the official Instagram accounts at Fashion Week this season showcasing all the incredible street styles (@stylespyin)
To be vey honest the first day was extremely tumultuous, I was just trying to figure out how to get my job done! I’ve NEVER taken interviews or interacted with complete strangers in my life before, I’ve always been the shy girl. So I was definitely stepping out of my comfort zone. But after I finished taking the first interview, I realised that I actually love doing this, it turned out to be a lot of fun for me. Eventually I got my way around it and I got super busy hunting down some of the well-dressed people at the venue! My photographer and I almost felt like we were just waiting to catch prey of the people there! (That sounds so wrong I know!)
The highlight on day 1 has to be catching the Manish Malhotra show, sitting front row! It was a magnificent presentation. The show was set up at the New Eastern Mills in Byculla, the guests made their way in amidst a display of vintage furniture, which gave it a very royal vibe.

My favorite show of Day 2 has to be the presentation by Harpers Bazaar where 8 amazing designers (Anand Bhushan, Siddhartha Tytler, Sailex, Hemant & Nandita, Anupamaa Dayal, Rabani & Rakha, Dev r Nil and Raakesh Agarwal) used mulmul in the most remarkable manner! Each and every outfit on the runway was a treat to my eye!
Also, the Miss Bennett London show was so much fun! Shradha Kapoor was the showstopper and she bopped down the runway making the mood super lively.

Day 3 was probably my favorite day this season, the line up of shows were just so great! The biggest highlight of Day 3 has to be the Nikhil Thampi show! Uh! It was inspired by the roaring 90’s and what a show it was! Glamorous outfits, with the use of lots of metallics and also some leather. But what made the show the most memorable one was definitely the music! With songs like “Tip Tip Barsa Pani” and “Saat Samundar Paar” Nikhil Thampi had the crowd dancing along to the tunes and whistling as the models strutted down the runway.
But besides Nikhil’s show, I would also like to mention how enthralled I was by Jatin Verma’s Collection! Have to say it was quite a pleasant surprise! He dedicated the collection to his wife (Aww!) and the theme of the collection was all about love. The presentation involved lots of intricate laser cut detailing and beautiful neon colors on remarkably tailored silhouettes.

I was at Palladium for the first half of the day, as I had to take off later in the evening for the naming ceremony of the latest addition to our Family, who is my little niece. We named her Divaa Btw : )
So while I was there, I was able to attend the Ken Fern’s, Rimi Nayak and SS Surya show. Amongst the 3, SS Surya’s presentation had my eyes go wide open, the outfits were constructed with such intricate detailing and the all white angelic presentation was so ethereal and serene to me. Absolutely loved it!

By now to be very honest, I was completely drained because of my hectic schedules. But I was also super pumped about the amazing line-up of shows Day 5 had in store! With shows like Shivan & Narresh, Tarun Tahiliani and finally Anamika Khanna, how could I not be excited!
Anamika Khanna’s presentation had to be my favorite of course! Where do I even begin to explain how much I adored the collection! Every detail in her presentation right from the hair and make up to the accessories was so ethereal and breathtaking!
And the cherry on the cake was how star studded the finale was! I was seated right behind Saif Ali Khan, Karisma Kapoor, Sonakshi Sinha, Manish Malhotra, Deepika Padukone (Phew!) Need I say anymore?

Overall I just feel happy to be able to witness so much over the span of 5 days, being a new comer to this industry I felt super welcomed! The askme team was so lovely to work with. I absolutely love my job and there’s nothing I’d rather be doing at the moment.
